Seeds of Change Invitations

I was asked to design invitation for Crossroads Fund’s annual fundraiser, Seeds of Change, in 2024 and 2025. An organization near and dear to my heart, Crossroads is a Chicago foundation that supporting grassroots organizing on racial and economic justice issues. To highlight the idea of the celebration “planting seeds,” staff select a different plants to highlight in each year’s event branding. In my invitation designs, I was able to explore a range of design styles from hand-drawn illustrations to retro florals.

Seeds of Change’s 2025 theme—“power the movement”—lent itself perfectly to retro 1970’s-inspired branding. The invitation design was complete with groovy typeface, sunny color palette, and flower power blooms.

To go along with the invitation, I also made the individual flower elements available to the staff to use on social media graphics, documents, and other materials for the event.

Inspired by an organizing trip that Crossroads staff took to Hawaii in 2024, that year’s invitation featured iconic plumeria flowers and indigenous staple taro/kalo root. I took leaf, blossom, seed pod, and root elements from the two plants to create an jewel-toned bouquet overflowing with abundance.

Individual clusters of leaves, flowers, and seed pods the staff used to brand other documents based on my original invitation design.
