Get to know Abbey

Abbey Hambright is a designer and maker living in Chicago. By day she works in nonprofit marketing and by night, she can usually be found drawing on her iPad or scheming about her latest project.

Abbey’s creative voice is characterized by authenticity, humor, and a multidisciplinary approach. She describes herself as an "explainer," bridging the gap between complex ideas and understandable, engaging content. While polished and professional, her work always retains a human touch, whether in a slightly wonky line or a funny aside.

With a career that’s spanned the arts, nonprofits, and creative small businesses, Abbey has cultivated both technical and strategic skills—not to mention a Jeopardy-worthy range of knowledge, from classical composer to the history of the pinback button. She’s held key roles at Taproot Foundation, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, Busy Beaver Button Co., and early in her career, as an AmeriCorps member.

For more than a decade, Abbey also ran a creative small businesses. Her handmade felt finger puppets were sold across the U.S. and abroad and featured in major publications including the Chicago Tribune, Buzzfeed, and Travel + Leisure magazine.

Abbey is passionate about the power of design and communications in advancing social justice. She often offers her skills pro bono with organizations including Crossroads Foundation, Chicago Community Bond Fund, and One Tail at a Time, as well as mutual aid campaigns.

With a unique creative voice and blend of technical marketing expertise, Abbey brings a fresh, human-centered perspective to every project.
